Some Cool Great Barrier Reef Images The Great Barrier Reef is situated off the east coast of Australia in the Coral Sea and is the largest coral reef system on the planet. Today the reef is protected to ensure that human activities such as tourism and fishing do not cause too much damage to it. It is also under periodic threat from the crown-of-thorns starfish, which has population blooms and leads to widespread destruction of the reef. It is also amongst the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.
Some Stunning Northern Lights Pictures The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis have inspired wonder and sometimes fear in the inhabitant of northern regions for millennia. The lights are caused when solar wind from the sun collides with charged particles in the earth’s thermosphere, the higher part of the atmosphere.
